Power Flushing – This is an effective central heating maintenance service which involves a heating engineer cleansing your system with a power flush machine. These circulate potent cleaning chemicals, which clean out all the rust, sludge, debris and limescale that has accumulated over time. Signs that you might need a gas engineer to carry out a power flush include cold patches on your radiator, a noisy system, discoloured water emitting from your radiators when you bleed them, cloudy tap water and general central heating inefficiency.
There are a number of benefits that this service can afford Guildford and Surrey property owners. Firstly, it improves the lifespan of central heating systems. It also improves efficiency, making it easier and cheaper to heat your home. Other pluses include a reduced risk of breakdown, and the elimination of kettling, which is often signified by irritating banging noises.
Underfloor Heating - A luxurious and very much in-vogue alternative to traditional heating systems, underfloor heating is an absolute joy on chilly winter days. As the name suggests, it sits just under your floor and allows heat to rise up and fill your entire room evenly, avoiding the cold spots which traditional radiator systems often suffer from. It lets you walk around bare foot in complete comfort, and as it’s out of sight and out of mind, frees up space and improves a room’s aesthetic, as there’s no need for bulky radiators.
It’s available in two configurations – wet and dry. The former uses hot water taken from your boiler, while the latter is electrical. Which will best suit your property depends on a few factors, most notably the size of your bathroom/kitchen, or whatever other room you’re looking to heat, and the type of boiler installation you have. We’re always happy to provide free, professional advice to our Guildford and Surrey clients so that they can make an informed decision between the two.
Hot Water Cylinders – Much more than meets the eye, hot water cylinders come in different types – direct, indirect, unvented and vented. Which your particular property requires depends on its existing infrastructure and type of boiler. A direct hot water cylinder does what it says on the tin, heating the water directly with an internal immersion heater. On the other hand, an indirect cylinder relies on other appliances to heat water to the required temperature. Then the cylinder stores said water so that it’s readily available on demand.
Each type can then be vented or unvented. A vented cylinder uses a feeder tank to provide it with cold water (via the mains), then the water is heated and distributed to taps and appliances, with gravity doing most of the work. An unvented cylinder, on the other hand, relies on mains pressure to distribute hot water around your home.
You’ll typically need a heating engineer to install a hot water cylinder in one of two situations. Firstly, your existing cylinder is no longer fit for purpose for any number of reasons; perhaps it’s very old or has been damaged/vandalised. Secondly, because you’re having a system boiler or regular boiler installed and need the required infrastructure.
If you have a question regarding any of the above services, don’t hesitate to call up a friendly, qualified Surrey Boiler Installations heating engineer. We’re trusted throughout Guildford and all nearby locales to deliver quality customer service at competitive prices.
